The Importance of Strong Replacement Window Warranties

One of the most important considerations when choosing quality windows is its warranty. While most replacement windows (and just about every home improvement product) has a warranty, not all of them offer the same coverage.

Jones and Associates would like to share what a strong replacement window warranty should be.

Parts of a Replacement Window Warranty

There are two things you should look for in replacement window warranties. The first is the material warranty, sometimes referred to as the factory warranty. This covers problems that may arise from defective materials, and in many cases, is divided into subcategories—glass, frame, and hardware—with different coverage periods. Windows have expected lifespans of anywhere between 20 to 50 years, so your material warranties, particularly the glass and frames, should have about the same coverage.

The second part is the workmanship warranty. It covers problems that may arise from improper installation. Even the highest quality replacement windows wouldn’t perform as designed if not installed correctly, so workmanship warranty is critical to the long-time performance of your replacement windows. Pay attention to the terms and conditions, as this varies from contractor to contractor. A two-year workmanship coverage is a reasonable, albeit baseline, expectation.

Our Warranties

Jones and Associates offer Simonton Prism® Platinum replacement windows, featuring a “Double-Lifetime” (i.e. transferable) limited warranty coverage on vinyl frames, hardware, and screens. It also includes up to 50 years prorated coverage on the window glass, including a 25-year glass breakage warranty, among other material coverage. With such extended warranties (longer than what other replacement window manufacturers offer), you can expect to enjoy your Simonton Prism Platinum replacement windows for a long time.

On top of Simonton’s material warranty coverage, we also have a 10-year workmanship guarantee. That’s five times more than what other replacement window providers offer because we’re confident of our team’s installation skills and we want you to be equally confident in your windows’ long-term performance.
