Things to Know Before Window Installation Day

Like any other remodeling project, buying replacement windows can be stressful if you’re not prepared for it. Installation day, in particular, can disrupt your daily routines. Here are some tips that can help you prepare for installation day.

Things to Know Before Window Installation Day

Prepare Work Areas

Installation day usually takes up to a couple of weeks from the day you sign the contract, depending on the size and complexity of your project. We recommend preparing your windows and the areas surrounding them. Clear a path from the door to the windows and move furniture and valuables out of the way. You can spread this out over several days to minimize effort. Our installers will also need a place to park and unload the replacement windows, so don’t forget to clear the driveway as well.

There Will Be Noise

Anticipate a lot of noise during installation day as installers will be going in and out of your home, hammering and drilling the windows into place. If you have children or pets who might get upset by the noise, arrange for a relative or a babysitter to look after them in the meantime. We also suggest notifying your neighbors or neighborhood association about the installation. This way, they will likely extend the same courtesy when it’s their turn to have replacement windows installed.

Exchange Contact Information

You’ll have time to talk to our installation team leader ahead of installation day and they’ll be happy to answer any of your questions. Try to exchange phone numbers and email addresses; the latter is useful in case you need to exchange photos or documents.
